On Friday, the US House of Representatives passed a landmark bill that would end the federal marijuana ban and scrap several cannabis-related penalties.

The bill was passed by 228 votes to 164, with nearly all Democratic lawmakers supporting it, as well as 5 Republicans.

The bill would erase some federal criminal records related to marijuana, launch programs for people or communities affected by drug abuse charges, and regulate and tax cannabis production.

On the other hand, American media ruled out that the Senate would approve the bill.
