The public prosecutor in Konya, central Anatolia, Turkey, has requested that two dairy workers be sentenced to 15 years in prison for a shower in milk.
According to the indictment, one of the employees filled a tank with milk and hot water and dipped inside to shower, while his colleague was photographing him, according to the Turkish English-language newspaper “Freedom Daily News”. The accusation document adds that the bathing process recorded with the camera was followed by the waste of a quantity of milk by pouring it on the floor inside the factory.
Defending themselves before the courts, the two defendants said that what they had done was just a “joke”, while the Public Prosecution Office responded that the workers had committed a crime by adding “toxic substances to food and causing health hazards.”
On October 26, two Turkish dairy workers posted a video, “showing them taking a bath in milk,” according to Hurriyet Daily News, on the social networking site TikTok. The recording sparked great anger and condemnation on social media, which led to the authorities’ interference and the arrest of workers, with a fine for the dairy company in which the accident occurred.
