The New York Times, citing tax return data, said that US President Donald Trump only paid $ 750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017, after reporting for years that his businesses incurred heavy losses to balance his hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue.
The newspaper added that Trump – who rejected the report as “fake news” – had not paid income taxes for 10 years in the last 15 years, despite receiving $ 427.4 million in 2018 from his reality TV program and other deals.
The disclosure of that previous private tax information came more than a month before the November 3 election between Trump and Democrat Joe Biden.
Trump denied the report during a White House press conference, describing it as “completely false news,” referring again to the ongoing scrutiny as a reason not to reveal his revenues.
Alan Garten, a Trump Foundation attorney, said in a statement to the New York Times that Trump has paid millions of dollars in personal taxes over the past 10 years without affecting the specific income tax.
