The Foundation of former French President Valery Giscard d’Estaing said, in a tweet on its official page on “Twitter” at dawn Thursday, that the former president had died due to infection with the new Coronavirus.
Valerie Giscard d’Estaing reported that he passed away on Wednesday, December 2, at his family’s home in the Lower Cher area.
She indicated that the former president had deteriorated health and died of “COVID-19”.
She confirmed that, according to his wishes, his funeral would take place under strict family privacy.

French media reported late on Wednesday that former French President Valerie Giscard d’Estaing, who held the presidency from 1974 to 1981, had died at the age of 94.
The former French president was transferred in mid-November to a hospital in Tours, in western France, noting that he stayed in the hospital for a short period last September after he complained of respiratory problems.
