Russian citizen was arrested in Denmark for alleged spying.
Denmark is at least the third Nordic country to accuse Russia of espionage in recent years.

Denmark’s Public Prosecutor announced today, Wednesday, the arrest of a Russian citizen residing in the country permanently on charges of espionage.

The prosecution indicated that this person is still in prison since last July, on suspicion that he handed over data on Danish energy technologies to Russian intelligence, stressing that it would demand the judiciary imprison him and then expel him from the country.

Commenting on the matter, the Russian embassy in Copenhagen stated, in a statement, that it considers the citizen’s arrest and the charges against him wrong.

The embassy expressed its hope that the authorities would ensure an impartial trial in the case, adding: “We hope that the judiciary will acquit our citizen and release him.”
