Pompeo is in quarantine

Today, Wednesday, December 16, the US State Department announced that its Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has entered quarantine, after coming into contact with people infected with the emerging coronavirus.

“Reuters” news agency quoted a US State Department spokeswoman, in which she said: “The current tests showed that Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, had negative results from infection with the Coronavirus.”

And she continued, “But he will be isolated in quarantine, after close contact with a person who has tested positive for the virus.”

“Pompeo is currently being closely monitored by the department’s medical team,” she added.

The US State Department refused to announce the person who had close contact with Pompeo and had tested positive for the Coronavirus, for reasons of privacy.

It is reported that Pompeo is supposed to leave his position in the US State Department by next January, with the administration of US President-elect Joe Biden assuming power.

Biden has nominated Anthony Blenkin for the new US Secretary of State.
