The American company “Microsoft” has accused hackers operating from Russia and North Korea of trying to steal sensitive data from companies working on developing drugs and vaccines against the Coronavirus.
The giant computer technologies company, in a statement published today, Friday, expressed its concern about launching cyber attacks on medical institutions and organizations concerned with fighting the Corona pandemic, indicating that during the past few months it had detected a series of attacks of this kind targeting seven advanced pharmaceutical companies directly involved in Efforts to develop treatments and vaccines against “Covid-19” in the United States, Canada, France, India, and South Korea.
“Microsoft” confirmed that these cyber attacks were carried out by three hacker groups, one of them from Russia and the other from North Korea.
The American company stated that the means of protection for its products managed to thwart most of these attacks, noting that it informed the target organizations about the matter and offered them assistance to deal with the damage resulting from the successful attacks.
“Microsoft” indicated that its president, Brad Smith, is participating today in the Paris Peace Forum, where he will urge countries to make more efforts to “prevent such malicious activities.”
