US Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden telephoned Pope Francis.
According to a statement by the Democratic Candidate’s Office, Biden thanked the Pope for his congratulations on winning the elections, which took place on November 3.
Biden expressed his desire to work with the Pope “on the basis of mutual confidence in the dignity and equality of all humankind,” especially on issues of ending poverty and combating climate change.
It is noteworthy that American media estimates indicate that Joe Biden won the presidential elections, and he launched the process of transferring power from the administration of President Donald Trump to the new administration, while Trump did not admit his defeat.
Biden has received congratulations on winning the election from a number of foreign leaders, including from Pope Francis, while the election results are still expected to be officially announced next December.
