Portuguese authorities test migrants in Lisbon for coronavirus

Portuguese authorities said that 17 Moroccan immigrants who were being held in army barracks fled after other migrants tested positive for Corona.

The National Immigration Service said the migrants fled at dawn on Thursday, while two had been arrested by the morning. Police across Portugal and in neighboring Spain searched for the escapees.

A group of 24 Moroccan immigrants who arrived last month on a wooden boat on the southern coast of Portugal, have been quarantined in the military barracks due to the imposed rules related to stopping the spread of the new Coronavirus.
